RICK KAY (*1962) ist ein waschechter Yorkshire Lighting-Designer, den es nach Berlin verschlagen hat.
Nachdem er das Diplom der New School of Speach and Drama 1984 in der Tasche hatte, verbrachte Rick fünf Jahre in Londons´ West end theatre, zuguter Letzt aufgestiegen bis zum Chief lighting engineer des berühmten Infomous Brixton Fridge Clubs, was für Ihn den Anfang von EDM & Rave Kultur und alles was das mit sich brachte bedeutete.
1989 trieb es Ihn in neue Gewässer - das neue Berlin, als gerade die Mauer fiel. Nachdem er sich in Berlins Clubwelt relativ zügig einen Namen als Lighting Designer gemacht hatte, wurde er Visual Chief des monumentalen Tresor Clubs, wo es ihn bis 2013 hielt.
Neben seiner Leidenschaft zu Rave und elektronischer Musik verband ihn seine Arbeit aber auch stets mit der Rock n Roll Maschinerie und der Event Industrie. Er ist bis heute in Lighting-Design-Produktionen in über 70 Ländern der Welt involviert
Ricks Lighting-Designs beinhalten Bands und Künstler wie Genesis, The Gossip, Anne Clark, Schreikback, Pothead und seit 15 Jahren ist er der Head of Visual Pruduction für Alphaville,wobei er nebenbei auch TV Shows und Theaterstücke ins richtige Licht gesetzt hat.
RICK KAY (*1962) is a Yorkshire born lighting designer now living in Berlin.
After acheiving his Diploma at the New School of Speach and Drama in 1984, Rick spent 5 years in West end theatre eventually ending up as the cheif lighting engineer at the Infomous Brixton Fridge where he was introduced to the then reveolutionary new dancefloor & rave culture and everything that went with it.
In 1989 he was fortunate enough to be visiting Berlin when the ”wall came tumbling down“.
After establishing himself in the Berlin Rave scene he became the visual chief at the monolithic Tresor club where he remained for the next twenty years. Parralel to his passion for Rave / elecro his work environment quickly evolved to the rock n roll industry as well as the event Buisness. He has been involved in Productions in over 70 countries worldwide in all niches of the lighting buisness.
Ricks Rock experience includes name such as Genesis, The Gossip, Anne Clark, Schreikback, Pothead and has spent the last 15 years as head of Visual Pruduction for Alphaville, as well as designing TV shows and Theatre pieces along the way.
